About PSNE...

The Pennsylvania Society of News Editors (PSNE) offers you the opportunity to network with editors statewide and find real solutions to the challenges you face. In your role as an editor, you are under the constant demands of fast-paced deadlines, newsroom management issues and ever-changing industry developments. PSNE offers editors the opportunities to meet and network with other professionals to improve our craft and celebrate the best in news coverage from across the state. 



PSNE works with the PNA to provide and promote affordable and meaningful training opportunities across Pennsylvania. In addition, we support training and contests for both scholastic and collegiate journalists to help prepare the next generation of media professionals. PSNE also plans and executes the annual Keystone Press Awards and helps organize the Pennsylvania Press Conference, where the top editors, reporters, photographers, designers and digital content producers gather to share ideas and to experience excellence through panel discussions, meals and mixers, and the presentation of awards.

Seminars/workshops/webinars
 - One-day seminars presented in newsrooms across the state and at the PNA Foundation are targeted to reporters and editors, with topics including journalism law, reporting techniques and writing & editing enrichment. Be sure to attend PSNE's quarterly webinars on important issues, such as open records, social media, data and much more!
 

Publications - PSNE members receive a subscription to the state's leading news media industry publication, Headlines & Deadlines, PNA's weekly e-newsletter reporting on issues in the news media industry. PSNE members can also sign up to receive PNA's Legal Update for weekly report on legal and legislative news. 

Pennsylvania Press Conference - The largest gathering of newspaper editorial personnel in the state featuring sessions on timely topics and networking opportunities, as well as accolades for Keystone Press Award winners.

Keystone Press Awards contest - PSNE partners with the Pennsylvania NewsMedia Association to put on the annual Keystone Press Awards contest, which is the state's leading competition for newsroom personnel and annually attracts more than 4,000 entries in seven circulation divisions with more than 20 categories. Winners are recognized at the annual awards banquet at the Pennsylvania Press Conference.

The purpose of the Pennsylvania Society of News Editors (PSNE) shall be to encourage the full and free dissemination of information of public interest without fear or favor, to strive to improve the standards of professional activity, to promote acquaintance among its members, to develop a stronger professional esprit de corps, to exchange ideas for the more effective application of professional labors, and to work collectively for the solution of common problems, in harmony with the precepts of the Pennsylvania NewsMedia Association and the American Society of Newspaper Editors.
